Dalmatian- The Fireman's Best Friend
Dalmatians have a job description unique among AKC breeds: coach dog. Their traditional occupation was to trot beside horse-drawn coaches, and to guard the horses and rig when otherwise unattended. With their preferred humans, Dals are bright, loyal, and loving house dogs. They are strong, active athletes with great stamina; wonderful partner for runners and hikers.
Grooming
Exercise
Dals don't require excessive grooming. A bath and brush out every 6-8 weeks is perfect for this wash and wear breed! While they do shed, it is not excessive, and shedding can be minimized by keeping them brushed with a Zoom Groom or similar rubber brush.
Nail trimming should be done every 2-4 weeks, and teeth should be maintained by allowing them to chew on treats such as dental chews, bully sticks, or bones, or even brushing their teeth for them.
